Notice: this is a fiction and the protagonists in this novel are imaginary characters, who aren’t related anyone in reality.
And this is a horror story. If you don’t like such stories or you have intense and special phobias, please don’t read this horror story.
<Here begins the novel.>
“I was in the dispensary when I woke up to know the assault by the ghost girl was over. On the left side was the school doctor, and on the right side Fiona. As I was astonished because of the dramatic change in what I was seeing, at first I lost a word. Before I could hold myself and my thought again,
“I was in the dispensary when I woke up to know the assault by the ghost girl was over. On the left side was the school doctor, and on the right side Fiona. As I was astonished because of the dramatic change in what I was seeing, at first I lost a word. Before I could hold myself and my thought again,
“Are you fine, Ms. Payne?”
said the school doctor, who looked worried about me and had further problems about me.
“What happened to you? I was worried about you so much!”
From Fiona’s face, I could tell she almost burst into crying, or she had just finished crying.
“What is this?”
was what I could say then. Last stuff I could remember was the struggle between the girl and I. While I was striving to get out of her assault, I thought I might be dragged to the world where she lived. That is the world of dead people. That is the world for the unsaved.
Being unable to distinguish which world I was in, the doctor and Fiona told me what happened to me.
According to their story, I lied on corridor near the entrance. Of course, alone. Fiona worries about me because it took long just to get recorder. She came and found me, who was unconscious on the floor. She went to the dispensary and called the doctor to the place I had fallen down. Which was how I was rescued from the horrible assault.
On the date I thanked Fiona and the doctor, and went home. The doctor advised me to see a hospital. Days after my mother and I went to see a huge hospital. The result of medical examination was “normal, everything is fine”.
However, there got a case, which is the death of Jeanne. That happened approximately a month after the event. When I arrived at the school on the day, peers were buzzing here and there. I wondered what the heck guys were frantically talking about. Fiona came earlier on the day and I knew her death.
Nobody knew the details, but what most guys were explaining was that it was clearly a murder. Somebody assaulted her and the place her body was found was in front of the restroom, which is the place Hanako is rumored to be in. According to the person who found her first, her clean grayish hair was colored in black, like the hair of other Asian peers and the mixed like Fiona and I. Jeanne wore a white blouse, which was colored in wine red like blood.
The scariest part of this story is, the guy who murdered Jeanne is still at large. I don’t think nobody can catch the guy. Or her.
Few years later, we moved away the school. First, I moved to San Francisco. After that, Fiona to Toronto. In my case, my father found a job in San Francisco. Maybe my parents and her ones had got along back then. My parents told me that Fiona and her family moved to Toronto. Though we speak the same language, the distance between the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean was too long for elementary close friendship to keep itself.
Sometimes, when I face the Pacific Ocean, I remember Fiona, how bright our relationship in Shonan, and the girl, Hanako. I don’t know yet why Hanako didn’t kill me, whether it’s Hanako who killed Jeanne, if so, why? Was Jeanne pissing her off? Was she arrogant and rude to her? I still have many questions, but none is answered.
At last, to you, who took time for reading this letter
I appreciate you read to the last. If you are in the school I have been to, please be careful of the restroom where Hanako is in. If your friends, children, and relatives go to the school, please tell them about the restroom and her.
Best regards,
Melinda Yuna Payne”
After finishing reading the letter, he was thinking of which elementary school she was from. He wondered he might be from the same school, but there is nothing proving whether he and Melinda are from the same school or not. Staying there fir minutes, suddenly, he felt somebody is behind himself. A chill ran down through the spine. Before he slowly turn the head around, he got a pat on his right shoulder.
“Hey, what’re you doing, George?”
After a high jump of his own heart, he calmed down. That was the best friend, Kevin Shida, who was supposed to come to the gate of the nearest station. He was the last person who would come out of the dark shade.
“Are you reading something? What’s that?”
Slipping the letter into a pocket of his pants,
“Nothing. It’s just I picked up. Nothing funny was written there.”
He said tersely.
“Really? I thought that was a letter for somebody having sent he or she loved.”
“A letter” was correct, but not that romantic stuff. To avoid further pursuit,
“Kevin, you came, so let’s get into the sea! Weather’s good, and it’s not crowded’”
said he. Kevin okayed, and both of them began to rush into the sea.
